"Let God"
Pressing on forward
“But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind
and straining toward what is ahead.”
Philippians 3:13 (NIV)

Paul’s words remind us that faith is not passive. He says he “Straining toward what is ahead ...to the finish line”—a picture of someone leaning forward, stretching every part of themselves toward what lies ahead. This image tells us that the Christian journey requires intention, perseverance, and focus. Yet Paul is not describing human effort alone. He is describing a life fully surrendered to God’s purpose. This is where the phrase “Let God” becomes powerful.
Letting God Take the Lead
Letting God does not mean doing nothing. It means allowing God to define the direction, the pace, and the destination. Many of us are moving—but not always in God’s direction. We run after achievements, approval, comfort, or control, believing these things will satisfy us. But Paul reminds us that the true goal is not found in earthly success.
The prize is the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. This call invites us into deeper trust, greater obedience, and closer relationship with Christ. It is a call to become more like Him.
Leaving the Past Behind
Before Paul talks about pressing forward, he makes something clear: he chooses not to dwell on what is behind. The past can hold us back in two ways—through regret or pride. Failures can cause shame and fear, while past successes can make us comfortable and unwilling to grow.
Letting God means releasing both. We trust that God has forgiven what needs forgiveness and that He still has more ahead of us. God is not finished with us yet.
Running by Grace, Not Pressure
When we stop running in our own strength, we discover God’s grace carrying us. Grace does not remove effort; it replaces pressure. Instead of striving to prove ourselves, we move forward knowing we are already loved.
Fixing our eyes on Christ changes how we run. We are no longer distracted by comparison, discouraged by setbacks, or paralyzed by fear. Christ is ahead of us—calling us onward, shaping our character, and strengthening our faith. To let God is to trust Him even when we cannot see the whole path. It is choosing faith over control, obedience over comfort, and purpose over ease.
Prayer:-
"Lord God, You see my heart and You know how easily I try to take control of my own life. Today, I choose to let You lead. Teach me to trust Your plan even when it feels uncomfortable or uncertain. Help me release my past—my failures, my fears, and even my achievements—into Your hands. Give me strength to press on, faith to follow, and eyes fixed on Jesus. May I run this race by Your grace and for Your glory!"
In Jesus’ name, Amen!"
