Whether we serve in worship, music, production, media, creative arts, livestreaming, photography, videography, stage management, or technical support, it is easy to become focused on preparation, excellence, and performance. While these things are important, Acts 1:8 reminds us that effective ministry does not begin with talent, technology, creativity, or skill. It begins with the Holy Spirit.

Jesus gave His disciples a simple but powerful pattern:

Presence → Power → Purpose

​

Before they could fulfill God's purpose, they needed God's power. Before they could receive God's power, they needed to wait in God's presence.

​

The same principle applies to every Worship, Arts & Media ministry today.

​

Presence — Ministry Begins in God's Presence

 

"When the Holy Spirit comes upon you..."

​

Before the disciples were commissioned, they were instructed to wait. Before they could do anything for Jesus, they needed to be with Jesus.

For Worship, Arts & Media teams, this is a vital reminder. Our greatest contribution to a worship service is not a song, a lighting cue, a video, a camera angle, or a flawless production. Our greatest contribution is a life that has spent time in God's presence.

The danger in ministry is becoming so busy preparing for worship that we neglect worship ourselves.

​

• A worship leader can lead songs without truly worshipping.

• A musician can play skillfully without being spiritually connected.

• A media operator can create excellent content without spending time with God.

• But ministry without God's presence eventually becomes performance.

​

Jesus said "Apart from Me you can do nothing." (John 15:5) The effectiveness of our ministry will never exceed the depth of our relationship with God. Before every rehearsal, every service, every production, and every ministry opportunity, we must first position ourselves in His presence.​

Prayer

• Pray for a fresh hunger for God's presence.

• Pray that personal devotion will become a priority for every team member.

• Pray that our ministry would flow from intimacy with God rather than obligation or routine.

• Pray for sensitivity to the leading of the Holy Spirit during worship services and rehearsals.
