Hold On in Prayer
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
Philippians 4:6

In seasons like the one we are in now, prayer is not always easy. When pressure, deadlines, creative demands, and ministry responsibilities increase, lifting our faith in prayer can sometimes feel difficult. Yet Scripture reminds us in Philippians 4:6...“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”
We always have two responses when facing pressure: we can worry or we can pray. Worry leads to panic, but prayer leads to peace.
The story of Jehoshaphat shows us what it means to hold on to God in prayer. When a powerful army came to attack Judah, the king did not rely on strategy or strength first—he turned to God.
“If disaster comes upon us… we will stand before this house and before you… and cry out to you in our affliction, and you will hear and save.”
— 2 Chronicles 20:9
King Jehoshaphat acknowledged that the situation was overwhelming, yet he chose to stand in God’s Presence and cry out to Him. He believed that God would hear and save His people.
For those of us serving in Worship, Arts, and Media, this is deeply relevant. Ministry can sometimes feel overwhelming—technical challenges, creative pressure, tight schedules, or moments when our service goes unseen. But the foundation of our ministry is not performance, production quality, or creativity. The foundation is prayer! Before every rehearsal, every service, every sound check, every design, and every livestream, we must first stand before the presence of God.
Holding on in prayer reminds us that:
-
God is the true source of our creativity
-
God is the strength behind our service
-
God is the One who moves in the hearts of people during worship
When we pray, we shift our focus from problems to God’s presence. Prayer anchors our hearts so that our ministry flows not from stress or pressure, but from faith and dependence on God. Just like King Jehoshaphat, when we face overwhelming situations, we choose to stand before the Lord and declare:“God, we will seek You first!”
Prayer
"Lord, we come before You today acknowledging that we cannot serve You in our own strength. When pressures rise and challenges surround us, teach us to hold on to You in prayer. Help us to seek Your Presence before every rehearsal, every creative decision, and every ministry moment. Replace our worry with peace and our fear with faith. May our Worship, Arts, and Media ministry always flow from a heart that depends on You. Guide our creativity, unite our team, and let everything we do lead people closer to You. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!"
